Ecotert offers a cloud-based software application, Unconventional Reservoir Production Performance System - URPPS™, with emphasis on unconventional (viscous/heavy oil and tight/shale) reservoirs. The cloud application leverages the power of modern scalable cloud computing resources and it runs over extensible, optimized and secure protocols. The application was built almost entirely with Node.js®, a JavaScript runtime, with a few components written as C/C++ Addons and C-Python (Cython) Extensions.

The event-driven, non-blocking I/O model and the clustering capability of Node.js®; in combination with data exchange over extensible, optimized and secure protocols; enable fast, scalable, high performance, secure and efficient running of URPPS™. Core application computation engines run inside cloud servers, on Linode Cloud Platform and Google Cloud Platform. The user interface (UI) runs in the browser with tight coupling, with computation engines, into a single application using cloud-hosted MongoDB®, Memored and Ajax to provide, respectively: data storage; in-memory Cluster sessions management; and dynamic display and data exchange within the application. These make the application runs and appears as a unified single application to the end user, just like any standard desktop application. The cloud application has several modules that are accessible via the latest version of any web browser. For best performance and secure login, the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge browsers are recommended, with Chrome being the topmost preference. Modules of URPPS™ include:

(1) Steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) analytical simulator for viscous reservoirs.
(2) Stretched exponential decline (SEPD) simulator for tight reservoirs.
(3) Hydraulically fractured horizonal well (HFH-W™) analytical simulator for tight reservoirs.

Some of the modules can be adapted for real-time data streaming applications, through a dedicated bidirectional socket.io communication. For example, the SEP decline and SAGD analytical simulators can be adapted to continously history-match each well production functions in real-time, bringing about the concept of real-time EUR projections.
